BMED 4863 Fall 2020 information –
Additional information about BMED 4863 –
- 1st semester students are referred to as Juniors, after that you are referred to as Seniors.
- Class assignments should be able to be completed during class (minimal class work is completed outside of class).
- A 2 semester commitment is preferred.
- BMED 4863 can be taken twice for a total of 6 depth elective credits
- Community volunteering is completed outside of class time for approximately 30hrs.
- Typical volunteering is at Ronald McDonald House Monday and Tuesdays 7-8pm
- Woodland Elementary School Fridays 9-10:30am
- Amana Academy Fridays 9-11:30am
- Hospital STEM parties – 2 twice a semester in the afternoon at Egleston and Scottish Rite – open to all students
- GT Middle Grades event usually a Wednesday or Thursday on campus in the morning
- Sickle Cell Education Day in September – all day event
- Atlanta Science Festival in March – all day event
- Seniors are the only ones able volunteer at the regular sessions at the hospital due to credentialing
- Senior volunteer hours vary due to involvement in the program
- Carpooling is coordinated
